Various Food Companies File for NFT and Metaverse Trademarks

It seems that various companies from the food industry are ready to take a step into the Web3 ecosystem.

According to the United States, Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) licensed trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis, the latest trademark application was filed by Kraft Foods Group, on October 12th.

The company has reportedly filed a trademark for its hot dog-shaped Weinermobile. The filing revealed that Kraft Foods Group aims to expand to NFTs, digital tokens, NFT marketplaces, virtual goods, and virtual food, drinks, and restaurants

Moreover, the Kraft Foods Group trademark application suggests that the company aims to open a virtual restaurant, offering virtual goods and home delivery services.

Previously to Kraft Foods Group, a major fast food chain In-N-Out Burgers filed for NFTs and Metaverse-related trademarks. Mike Kondoudis covered this matter on Twitter.

The trademark was filed for NFTs, digital token exchanges, NFT-backed media, and retail stores for virtual goods, such as food and drinks.

The In-N-Out application notes that the company aims to offer: “temporary use of online non-downloadable software for users to access, transmit, exchange and establish ownership of virtual goods, blockchain tokens, nonfungible tokens, digital media, digital files, and digital assets in the field of food, beverages, restaurants, and merchandise.”

Lastly, on October 5th, processed food brand Del Monte Foods reportedly filed eight trademark applications for DEL MONTE and The Del Monte Shield

The trademark was filed for NFTs, NFT-backed media, virtual marketplaces, restaurants, stores, food, and drinks.

Moreover, the application reveals that Del Monte Foods aims to create “software for uploading, transmitting, publishing, storing, managing, verifying, authenticating, and communicating digital currency, crypto-collectibles, digital tokens, digital files, images, sound recordings, video recordings, virtual objects, and virtual products and services.”

Recently several companies, from luxury brands to auto racing sports organizations, are filing for trademarks related to the Web3 ecosystem. Some of them are Hermès, Sony Music, and Formula One.
