In the press release, Interactive Brokers noted that crypto trading services will be available to Hong Kong-based investors that have over “HKD 8 million in investable assets or institutions with assets greater than HKD 40 million.”

The above-described individuals and institutions will be able to trade BTC or ETH alongside “other asset classes available on the Interactive Brokers platform.”

Based on the press release, Interactive Brokers trading is powered by OSL Digital Securities and offers low commissions. The company claims it will take a 0.20%-0.30% commission of trade value, depending on the monthly volume.

The company highlighted that the move to start offering crypto trading services in Hong Kong comes as more and more investors are “showing a growing interest in digital assets.”

Interactive Brokers Head of APAC David Friedland commented on the matter by stating:

Investor demand for digital assets continues to grow in Hong Kong and around the world, and we are pleased to introduce cryptocurrency to address the trading objectives of clients in this important market. Eligible clients will benefit from our low costs and the ability to trade crypto alongside many other global products from a single unified platform.

The automated global electronic broker noted that by using its services, institutional investors will be able to transact and view their balances through a single platform rather than using multiple trading platforms.

On top of that, investors will have a chance to trade on only Bitcoin or Ethereum but also “stocks, options, futures, bonds, event contracts, mutual funds, and ETFs.”
